4 Million People Sign Up For Obamacare As Deadline Nears
Just over 4 million people have signed up for Obamacare ahead of the December 15th deadline to start coverage on New Year’s Day.
Huge numbers of individuals are enrolling for Obamacare for next year, despite President elect Donald Trump’s vow to repeal it right as he takes office.
Just over 4 million folks have chosen policies for 2017 through the federal exchange, healthcare.gov, at the time of Dec. 10, according to data released Wednesday by the Department of Health and Human Services.
This week, the pace is quickening. People who want coverage to start on Jan. 1 must sign up by Thursday. More than 700,000 individuals signed up on Monday and Tuesday, the two biggest days since open enrollment began on Nov. 1.
More than 1.1 million new people have signed up for 2017, while 2.9 million individuals are renewing their coverage. Consumers aren’t formally enrolled until they pay their first month’s premium.
